Neuropore Therapies In Vivo Research Scientist

Neuropore Therapies, Inc. is a San Diego based biopharmaceutical company utilizing innovative structure-based drug design technology to discover new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders

Neuropore Therapies is seeking a research scientist with behavioral pharmacology and biochemistry expertise to support these drug-discovery and development efforts. This is a hands-on technical and scientific position supporting in vivo studies related to Neuropore Therapies drug discovery and development efforts. Working independently the person holding this position will perform all aspects of in vivo experiments with rodents including: compound administration, behavioral assay development and testing, specimen collection, biochemistry and data analysis. The incumbent will maintain documentation related to study execution to industry standards and will be responsible for assuring that protocols and company operating procedures are followed. The person holding this position will also be responsible for generating written study reports and disseminating findings at internal review meetings.

Candidates for this position will be expected to have a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology, pharmaceutical science, biology, neuroscience, or related discipline along with a minimum of 1-2 years relevant postdoctoral experience. Exceptional candidates with a BS/MS degree and at least 5+ years of relevant industry experience conducting animal studies in support of drug discovery will also be considered.

Additional technical experience requirements for this position include:

  • A minimum of 3 years recent (within the past 12 months) direct hands on experience working with rodent models (mice or rats) is required.
  • A demonstrated ability to administer test article via IP, SC, IV or PO routes to rodents and the ability to collect blood and tissue samples is required.
  • Candidates with experience conducting behavioral studies (motor and cognition) in animal models commonly used for CNS drug-discovery research are highly preferred.
  • Candidates with experience conducting biochemical evaluations (e.g., Western blots, ELISAs) of in vivo samples are highly preferred.
